Bucky's Story

Bucky's of Boston is an ice cream store in Rancho Penasquitos. There is only one Bucky's, and it has been at the same location for 18 years!

Bucky's makes its own ice cream fresh daily, on the premises. The Italian ice we serve is the real thing, purchased from East Coast vendors and made fresh on site.

OK., here's the whole story...

Unlike the ice cream you buy at other places, Bucky's Ice Cream is made fresh on the premises. It is never more than just a few days new.

Most of the ice cream you buy at other places is made in some far away foreign country like Wisconsin or Vermont. Then it is placed on a very big truck that stops at every grocery store or ice cream store between Vermont and Penasquitos. Months later (more or less) it arrives at your store where is sits for another month or so.

Now, buying a local product like Bucky's versus buying an imported product is more than just patriotic, it makes good sense. We know from where all of our ingredients come. In fact, we know most of the dairy cows personally. We know their life-styles, their families and hygiene habits.

On the other hand, what do we really know about those cows from Wisconsin? Are they healthy? Do they smoke? For all we know they could have relatives in France! Seriously, our dairy suppliers insist that their dairy farmers produce milk products which are grown without hormones or BST or whatever else is used to enhance production.
